Stephen Cox [Parents] was born in Henrico, Virginia. He died in 1749 in Cumberland, Virginia. He married Judith Woodson in Henrico, Virginia.

Stephen COX inherited from his father the plantation where he lived. This was originally in Henrico Co., VA, became Goochland Co., VA in 1728, and would become Cumberland Co., VA in 1749. On April 11, 1732 Stephen COX received 800 acres in Goochland Co., VA on the north side of the Appomattox River at the mouth of Muddy Creek, and on Aug 15, 1737, he received 400 acres more, on a branch of Tare Wallet Run and Little Guinea Creek. He also bought 763 acres in Goochland Co., VA and 381 acres in Amelia Co., VA (The Virginia Genealogical Society, Quarterly, Vol. 18, P. 117; Cumberland County Will Book 1, P. 165-166)

John WOODSON, his father-in-law, in his will left a 200 acre tract of land on the James River to his daughter, Judith which she and her husband sold on March 15, 1745, to John HARRIS (Clayton Torrence, ed. The Edward Pleasants Valentine Papers, P. 1987-1989; The Virginia Genealogy Society Quarterly, Vol. 18, P. 119; Goochland Co., Deed Book 5, P. 86)

Judith Woodson [Parents] 1 was born in 1692 in , Henrico, Virginia. She died after 1743 in , Cumberland, Virginia. She married Stephen Cox in Henrico, Virginia.

She lived twenty-five years longer than her husband.
Wrote her Will June 27, 1774 and it was proved in court Nov. 28, 1774 in Cumberland Co., VA. She named son Josiah, executor, to dispose of her whole estate among all of her children. (Cumberland Co., Will Book 1, P. 165-166; Cumberland Co. Will Book 2, P. 159)

Never married.

Inherited 381 acres of land in Amelia Co., VA. He was not yet 21 in 1758 when his brother Stephen wrote his will.

Josiah's Will was recorded May 22, 1818 and named his nephews John PLEASANTS and Tarleton PLEASANTS, brothers of the late Samuel PLEASANTS, printer. These were the sons of his sister Sarah.
