Center telephone office about 1907. They had been living in
Converse,
Louisiana, and a friend from there had moved to Center, and
asked Carrie
to come live with her and work here. It was in Center that she
met Bartow
McLendon. She left and went to Houston, and later Bartow went
to Houston,
and they were married. They came to Center and made their home.
The home
built in 1913 is still standing, and it was there that she
lived her life
out.
