As told by Lyle Smithson.....Apparently Herman liked to drink - a lot. He also liked to drive. One night after a fishing trip with some of his buddies, Herman headed for home. He missed a curve and ran off the road into a ditch. A highway patrolman came by and stopped to see if he was okay. Herman said he was drunk and knew he shouldn't drive on the highway, so he was driving in the ditch instead. The patrolman laughed, let him go and watched as Herman drove away - still in the ditch.
Cora Innes Leeka [Parents] was born in 1879 in Dallas, Iowa. She died in 1952. She was buried in , West Linn Cemetary, Dallas, Iowa. She married Herman Elmer Cummins.
