Comments:
Thomas must have returned to OH for a time because two of his children, sons
John C., age 3, and Jeff, age 6 are born there...as shown by the 1860 census.
The time period would have been when Drummond Smithson died about 1844/45 to about 1847/48. Was Thomas involved in taking care of the farm and getting ownership resolved?
Why isn't Thomas mentioned in George Wesley Smithson's or William Smithson's probates? Other children sign off in William's estate and George Wesley names several other children in his will, but not Thomas.

Family Sheet for Thomas M. Smithson by George D. Smithson shows Matilda, Mary Ann, George Wesley, Elza Hackworth, Samuel Harvey, Charles J, and John C. all being born in Littleneck Twp, Randolph Co., IN. Birthplaces in conflict with other sources need to be resolved. (TBH)

From information on Hannah's death certificate, the family must have moved from Indiana to Iowa in about 1865.

Roxie says he married his brother's widow Maria L. Cummins Smithson in 1909, yet the obituary says he married only twice and the second wife was Ella Myers who he married in 1925. If he married his brother's wife--they must have divorced since Maria lives to 1942 or so.

Marriage to Maria ended in divorce. (TBH)
