Sarah Jane Ruth Routh was born in 1820/1821 in Ohio. She died in Jul 1917 in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa. She was buried in Pleasantville, Marion, Iowa (unmarked). She married John Wesley Smithson on 15 May 1838 in Clinton, Ohio.

1900 Sarah Smithson the wife of John W. Smithson is living in Ottumwa Twp., Wapello Co, IA with her son, Thomas W. and Mary Smithson at home.

Jane Smithson died July 1917 at age of 97 years. In unmarked grave at Pleasantville, IA. Obituary is the reference from Pleasantville News. 2 Aug 1917 - Mrs. Jane Smithson of Des Moines died at a hospital at that place Tuesday. Her body was brought to Pleasantville, Wed. and burial took place in the cemetery here. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Mary Belle never married and went back to Ohio to live. Her obituary is found in the Clinton Co., OH Obituary File, no newspaper listed:
Miss Marry Belle Smithson, 85, cousin of Miss Myrtle Smithson, 71 Library Avenue, died at the res/o her cousin, Lenna Moon, in Delaware Wed. The daughter of John Wesley and Sarah Smithson she was born Sept. 6 1866 in Iowa. Interment will be in Sugar Grove cemetery.

Isaac Wesley Smithson [Parents] was born on 28 Aug 1869 in Marion, Iowa. He died on 8 Mar 1955 in Gowrie, Webster, Iowa. He was buried in Gowrie, Webster, Iowa.

Isaac Smithson (the 2nd) died 8 March 1955 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Askleaf at Gowrie Iowa in Webster Co Iowa. He is buried in the Gowrie Iowa cemetery.

I.W. SMITHSON, farmer and stock-
raiser, of Grand River Township, liv-
ing on section 8, is a native of Ohio,
born in Clinton County, July 24, 1850, a
son of John W. and Sarah (Ruth) Smith-
son, the former being a native of Clinton
County, Ohio. They reared a family of
six children, their names being as follows
Cynthia Jane, Louisa, I.W., J.T. and T.
W. (twins), and Mary Belle. When our
subject was seven years of age he was
taken by his parents to Randolph County,
Indiana, where the family lived one year,
removing thence to Wells County of the
same State. Our subject passed his early
life on the home farm, receiving his educa-
tion in the common schools When a boy
of thirteen years and eight months, and
weighing but ninety pounds, he enlisted in
the Union service in Company K, Sev-
enty-fifth Indiana Infantry, the date of
his enlistment being March 24, 1864.
He was in General Sherman's famous
march to the sea, and in all the en-
gagements of that noted campaign, and
was at the grand review at Washington.
He received an honorable discharge at
Louisville, Kentucky, July 25, 1865, when
he went to Marion County, Iowa, to which
county his parents had removed during his
absence. August 28, 1868, he was married
to Miss Sarah Jane Browning, of Marion
County, Iowa, a daughter of Wesley and
Julia Ann Browning. Mr. and Mrs. Smith-
son have one son-Isaac Wesley, born
August 28, 1869. Mr. Smithson resided in
Marion County till 1873, when he came to
Grand River Township, Decatur County,
and bought forty acres of unimproved
land, which he broke, and sold two years
later. After disposing of his land he returned
to Marion County, remaining there till
February, 1882, when he bought his pres-
ent farm on section 8, Grand River Town-
ship, where he has since followed general
farming and stock-raising. His farm con-
tains eighty acres of choice land, well
improved, with good residence, and commo-
dious barn and other farm buildings and a
good orchard. Although but a late comer
to Decatur County, Mr. Smithson has be-
come well known. In politics he casts his
suffrage with the Republican party. He is
a member of the Masonic fraternity.
