pg #1: "The 1850 U.S. Census for Limestone County, Alabama listed William Escue, 26, as a farmer with real estate valued at one hundred dollars. Living with him was his 18 year old wife, Sarah E. Their neighbors were John W. Brooks, a 42 year old farmer born in Virginia, his wife Alice, and eight children. Another neighbor was T.N. Brooks, a 42 year old carpenter also from Virginia, his wife Martha and their six children. These Brooks families had been in Alabama for 16 years, according to the census reports."

Before Maggie died at home of her sister, Florence, she gave the souvineer to her niece, Vergie Escue Young, who was also a niece of George Standley. Maggie died at home of Clifford Florence Brown.

pg #29: it was said that William gave each son a horse when h was grown. Daulton got his father's watch, instead. It was a key-wind silver pocket watch that William bought from Jeweler Speck in Ripley, TN. Mr. Speck guaranteed this watch to last the lifetime of Mr. Escue and to last the lifetime of his youngest son also. It was a good watch at the time of Daulton's death.
