SURN STEDMANRobert was of Kinross and succeeded his fathers in lands on Milne Lead and Gala Hill . In 1634 he acquired the lands of Little Seggie in county Kinross, in which he was seized to himself in life rent, and to his eldest son James in fee. These lands became the designation of his family. He also acquired the land of Ballingall.
In 1634 Robert Steedman of Kinross lent 300 marks for the Scots army. The will (dated 9 May 1662) of Robert, the elder, of Saint Andrews Parish in Kenross, is shown in the commisariat Records of that parish. (Scottish Records Society Publications, Register of Testaments, 1549-1800.)
